What I Bought in February

Continuing my blog post series discussing everything that I bought in a particular month. The good, the bad, the regrets. I figured this would be a good way to see what I’m spending and keep me in check, but also get reviews on everything I bought and see if it is worth it!

Although, I know I spend a lot on beauty, and I consider this a part of my job as a content creator. I make some money from my page via affiliate links and through paid sponsorships, and I want to buy things to review, and put money back into my page. I don’t plan on ever fully relying on PR to review every new launch.

With that said, let’s get into February (very late- but the good news is I have thorough thoughts as I have had a lot of time to test these purchases)! Please note that some of the product links are affiliate, meaning I earn a portion of the sale if you make a purchase.

West Elm Duvet + Shams

Where: West Elm

Price: $283.40

Okay, so I have been looking for a new duvet cover for our bed, for over a year, and I finally found one I loved and bit the bullet. The last time I bought a duvet was in 2013 or 2014??? Also from West Elm— so needless to say it was BADLY needed, and they clearly last a really long time. We are obsessed with how heavy and soft this duvet is. My husband was super impressed by this purchase as was I.

Fragrance Samples

Where: Fragrances Line

Price: $116.79

I really really hate guessing when it comes to reading notes online, and then blindly buying fragrance, and I hadn’t bought a full-size fragrance since 2018. It was time. But it was 100% worth investing in samples, because I fell in love with things I never would have tried, and saved myself on some things I thought I would love.

Lululemon Love Crew Tank

Where: Mercari (bought it secondhand)

Price: $32 (retails for $38)

These are super soft flattering tanks that I wear to workout in and to lounge in. I have an alert set on Poshmark and Mercari so I can buy them new or gently used secondhand. I love buying Lululemon this way! So cheap, especially when you don’t have to pay the the super high sales tax in Texas.

La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 50 (European Version)

Where: Ebay

Price: $24.67

This is the most incredible texture, and has superior UVA and UVB protection compared to US sunscreens. This is a trusted seller, and it came in the French box. I would 100% buy from this seller again, and I can’t recommend this SPF enough, as I think it would work for all skin tones and types.

Em Cosmetics Blushes in Magic Hour + Faded Clementine

Where: Em Cosmetics

Price: $62 ($34 each or save $4 if you buy two)

I picked up Magic Hour and Faded Clementine and they’re the most perfect, buildable baked blushes that work as a blush and highlighter as one. No chunky glitter though, and doesn’t show off texture on the skin. If anything they almost blur the skin, and provide beautiful washes of color. No regrets!!

Target Haul

Where: Target

Price: $29 (used gift cards to bring this way down!)

L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara in Deep Burgundy - $6.89 - I love this formula, and I still think it’s one of the best classic formulas at the drugstore. I went in there wanting burgundy or the purple shade, because I saw Claire LaJeunesse (who also has green eyes) using it, and decided I needed it. It’s so pretty for every day.

L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara - $8.49 - I bought this because Ashley from Restroom Rituals claimed it was her favorite drugstore mascara ever. It’s a really nice one!! Although I think my all time favorite is still Lash Blast Volume.

Essie Nail Polish in Birthday Girl - $8.79 - This was also inspired by Claire LaJeunesse who used one coat, and her nails looked so put together. It’s the perfect neutral-pink shimmer to slap on quickly when you don’t have time for a whole manicure and need to look put together.

ELF Liquid Metallic Eyeshadow in Comet - $5 - this is a nice little bronze eyeshadow! Super easy to work with, blend and then it dries down and lasts. ELF always impresses me with its super affordable but high quality finds.

Stars Above Striped Shorts in Mint + Lavender - $14.99 each - I got two pairs for lounging around the house. I love stars above and have a few other pairs, and they’re my favorite go-to lounge shorts!

I also bought some stuff for Fitz’s Easter Basket!

Sephora Haul

Where: Sephora

Price: $65 (includes refund for the sucky product)

LYS Beauty No Limits Matte Bronzer in Motivate - $20 - If you’ve been keeping up with my IG, you know I am obsessed with this and it’s my go-to bronzer.

LYS Beauty Satin Matte Cream Blush in Kindness - $16 - these are incredible, and blend seamlessly. They look like skin, but feel matte to the touch which is everyone’s cream blush dream.

ROEN Beauty Disco Eye Topper - $29 - This was completely dried out so I returned it. Ugh I probably won’t buy from the brand again as the investors kicked the two co-founders out and everything has gone downhill with this brand, sadly.

Benefit Cosmetics Magnet Extreme Lenghtening Mascara - $15 - this did…nothing. Not really great volume, or length or curl. No.

Tower 28 Beauty Milky Lip Jelly Gloss in Coconut - $14 - I already owned Cashew (perfect rosy-brown) , and a bunch of the jelly colors and I love this warm wash of pink/coral.

In Summary

I’m not mad about this month’s spending. I’ve decided for my page, I am going to do monthly Target and Sephora hauls, and review things for ya’ll so for a lot of the items here they were badly needed or reinvestments into my content creation. The Lulu top was a solid find, and we badly needed that Duvet cover lollll.

Total Spend in February: $612.86
