FUR Oil Review
FUR is based out of New York, and was founded by sisters and life-long best friends. A former management consultant, a beauty marketer veteran, and an art director came together to create this brand, and modern beauty products for modern life.
Their idea is simple: If you treated the hair on your head the way that you treat your pubic hair, you would hate your head hair too. They are not making a statement about what you do with the hair in your nether region, they are just simply stating that you should take care of all hair equally! I love this concept, because I think there is so much focus around skincare for the FACE that skincare for the body (our bodies are covered in skin, DUH) is completely ignored. I have been loving body oils, and find they give me the best hydration, so I was really excited when Fur sent me their oil to try.
Fur's products are made in the U.S. and are free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and silicones. The products are vegan, cruelty free, gluten free, dermatologically and gynecologically tested.
Fur Oil: Reviewed
Okay, so first off the packaging. The bottles are adorable and spherical. Very instagram-worthy. The smaller bottle has a tiny pipette which is a bit challenging to use, especially if you're looking to cover a larger area with the oil.
This oil is meant to be applied after bathing/showering and after hair removal. This oil is meant to reduce inflammation, while softening the hair and skin. It prevents ingrown hairs. It's a dry oil that won't stain your silk. The oil can be used anywhere that you have hair and skin on the body.
Grape Seed & Jojoba oils: provide a dry touch, with vitamins A & E to soften and condition hair/skin.
Tea Tree Oil: anti-microbial to help clear pores and minimize ingrown hairs
Clary Sage Seed Oil: soothing to reduce inflammation
I personally love body oils, as it's my favorite way to add moisture back into my skin after bathing, shaving, or any hair removal. I have found that this definitely prevents any red bumps or irritation. I have also been using this a lot on the back of my legs, as for some reason this is where I get a lot of ingrown hairs, and I haven't had. a. single. one. This smells lightly of tea tree oil, but I love this scent, and it dissipates really quickly. When I run out, I honestly see myself grabbing the larger size so I can slather this all over my legs.
My husband has a beard, and shaves his neck. Interestingly enough, he gets ingrown hairs everywhere but his neck, most often in places he doesn't even shave. He even had one the other day on his ankle! He has really thick hair, and so I've been having him use this on his ingrown hairs, and I do find they heal so much faster and haven't returned. I also love this in his beard. Not only does it make it much softer, but it smells so nice!
